Physioworks Health Group Sports Physiotherapist Matthew Lynagh supported the Victorian Women Indoor Cricket as team physiotherapist at the Indoor Cricket National Championships.
Held in Melbourne from June 4-11, Matt helped the Open Women’s team in winning the Indoor Cricket grand final over South Australia.
Matt reports that while there were no injuries there were numerous sore bodies as it was a long tough week for the team, playing 2 games a day before leading to success in the final. “I was doing treatments in the morning and night with hydro session’s in-between the games and ice baths at night to assist recovery. We even did a walk in the beach on Tuesday which was even colder for the team then the ice bathes” said Matt.
It has been a busy few months for Matt. After working with the U18 and U15 Victorian Womens’ cricket teams across the summer, Matt swapped willow for a Sherrin in May, by supporting the South East Football Netball League (SEFNL) Inter-league squad as team physio in their preparation and on the resounding match day victories over the Murray FL in the AFL Victoria Community Championships, before “re-donning the whites” for the Indoor Cricket championships last week.
