Physioworks Health Group Podiatrist Ben Holland pulled the boots back on for the recent EJ Whitten Legends game.
Winding back the clock, Ben significantly contributed to the Allies 24 point victory over Victoria, by giving pre-game podiatry and footwear tips to his fellow teammates.
The Legends game, played this year in front of a crowd of 26000, is an annual event for the EJ Whitten Foundation that raises awareness and funding for Men’s prostate cancer.
Ben, who has spoken at numerous Australian Sports and Medical conferences on “The Impact of Football Boots on Specific Injuries”, was left shaking his head as he conducted a full examination of the Allied player’s footwear prior to the game.
“Wearing the correct footwear is critical to ensuring injury prevention of your feet and lower limbs. But as the photos show, Warwick ‘The Wiz’ Capper was far more interested in his pout and his ‘sensational’ calf muscles than his feet, wearing his old circa 1987 Diadoras” laughed Ben.“Billy Brownless looked great sporting the fluoro Nike Tiempo; while it is no wonder that Aaron Davey and Micky O’Loughlan run so fast given their ‘flash white’ boots.”
“It was great to have a bit of a kick, have lots of fun and contribute to such a great cause” said Ben.
