At Physioworks Health Group, our Massage Therapy team have a range of massage disciplines, techniques and skill sets.

Remedial Massage Therapist Ashley Law, at Physioworks Cranbourne and Pakenham, provides myotherapy in his assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal pain and conditions. When engaging muscle with myotherapy to assist client’s to achieve their goals, Ashley may use cupping as another tool to help muscle tone by separating the muscle fibres to encourage blood flow, rather than compressing muscle tissue.

 What is Cupping?

Cupping vacuums the fascia into a cup encouraging blood flow while stimulating the release of toxins, blockages and build-up of waste products.

Cupping marks are not a bruise.  The marks from cupping are an indication of pathogens within the muscle, either being toxins, blockages and waste products that lie within the body. These pathogens can stagnate within muscles that can lead to shortness, tightness that can lead to stiffness within the joint affecting movement.

Cupping is widely used as a massage relief technique across a cross section of our client base; from tradies to athletes.

There are three (3) types of cupping techniques used regularly by Myotherapist Ashley Law:

  1. STATIC = Draws from deep muscle fibres.
  2. GLIDING = Glide the cups over the body targeting the superficial level.
  3. FUNCTIONAL = Apply cups to certain muscles while engage in active movement to assist in the release of muscle restriction.

If you’d like to understand more about the benefits of Cupping as part of your massage therapy requirements please contact Myotherapist Ashley Law at Physioworks Cranbourne on 9559 1111.
