Health care support & education is a key focus of the Physioworks Health Group commitment to the local communities which we serve.
As part of our long-term support & sponsorship of the Ashburton Redbacks Junior Football Club, our annual, open forum Q&A Injury Prevention & Management education session was recently held at the Physioworks Camberwell clinic for the Ashy trainers & coaches.
The aim of the evening is to help the many parents who volunteer as Ashy team trainers and coaches to be best prepared for player injury prevention & care management for the girls & boys across the long season of junior footy
Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists David Francis (FACP) & Andrew Dalwood (FACP), along with APA Sports Physiotherapist Brad Fernihough, led the session, covering issues from taping, basic massage & concussion to warm-up & recovery and the management of common soft tissue injuries in young, growing athletes.
Podiatrist Pip Savvides completed the session with discussion on “best-fit” football boots, treatment of blisters and foot & lower limb injury.
A big thanks to all the parents who attended; and to all those that give their time to enable the girls & boys to participate in junior footy. The team at Physioworks Camberwell wish all at the Ashy Redbacks Junior Football Club, a fun, enjoyable and injury free junior footy season.
